The facility manager’s office at Milton Manufacturing was a project that sought to take a small and narrow space in a storage building and convert it into suitable office space for the company’s facility management team. The design goal was to create an office that merged touches of contemporary furniture in with numerous antique furniture and fixtures. This was decided after demolition had started and the wood beams that make up the ceiling were exposed. It was decided that this ceiling would ultimately drive the designs look and feel. The manager operated in a manner that didn’t lend itself to having a closed in office so instead a frosted glass half wall separated the managers working area from the rest of the support staff.
